Lucknow : The police recovered mobile phones, CDs and pornographic material from Meerut jail when they were called to intervene between two groups of clashing inmates, a police official said here Thursday.
During the raid Wednesday night, the police recovered eight mobile phones, SIM cards, CDs and pornographic material from the prison cells.
The seizures were made when policemen moved in to control the violence.
Proceedings under the Gangsters Act have been launched against 17 inmates under trials.
Those involved in the violence are to be shifted to other jails in the state, an official said.
