Hyderabad: Mohd. Sultan Ahmed, MLC and member of All India Congress Committee, has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to conduct a fresh survey of Wakf properties across the state and make public the details. He also asked the government to appoint a senior IAS officer as secretary to the Waqf Board. The officer should be given powers similar to that of Endowments Commissioner to make sure proper functioning of the board, he said.
He submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy requesting him to initiate action. He expressed concern over reports published in a section of the press exaggerating the extent of Waqf properties and their value.
