Shiv Sena leaders call on Nashik victim’s kin

Nashik : Shiv Sena leaders Ravindra Mirlekar and Babanrao Gholap Friday called on the bereaved family of Ambadas Dharrao, a Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) engineer who died in violence allegedly triggered by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers here Wednesday and offered their condolences.

Ambadas, who was sitting in an HAL bus coming from their Ozar factory near here, was fatally hit by a stone hurled by a frenzied mob of MNS workers after their leader Raj Thackeray’s arrest in Mumbai Wednesday.

Father of two married daughters, 56-year old Ambadas had recently shifted to his newly constructed house here from HAL’s residential colony in Ozar. He commuted with other employees between home and the workplace in the company’s bus.

Shiv Sena district unit president Datta Gaikwad, who accompanied the two party leaders to the Dharrao household, told IANS that Ambadas’ kin expressed anguish at the mindless violence that MNS workers unleashed in the name of “Marathi manoos” (Marathi man).

“We are completely aloof from politics but our family elder was its victim,” Gaikwad quoted Madhukar Dharrao, Ambadas’ younger brother as saying. Dharraos are quintessentially Maharashtrians.
