Stronger Iran-Syria cooperation to serve regional peace – Assad

Damascus : Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said here that stronger Iran-Syria cooperation would benefit regional stability, calm and peace.

Assad told visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki Thursday that any consultation between Tehran and Damascus under the present juncture is of special sensitivity.

“Consultations between Damascus and Tehran within the framework of sensitive regional conditions will be in line with bilateral, regional and international interests,” said Assad.

He said both countries should be more vigilant against plots of the enemy.

Mottaki said for his part that more cooperation among countries, especially between Iran and Syria, is needed presently when the Middle East is under sensitive conditions.

“The Zionist Regime of Israel recklessly provokes instability in the region and international organisations too are monitoring scenes of the Regime’s violence,” he added.
