Bush says his administration is actively engaged in resolving trouble spots in Africa

Cotonou, Benin : U.S. President W. Bush says his five-nation trip to Africa is meant to highlight success stories and even though he’s skipping conflict-ridden areas, his administration is actively engaged in resolving turmoil on the continent, reported ap.

In a news conference today with the president of Benin in western Africa, Bush defended his decision to visit Benin, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana and Liberia. He says the many conflicts now roiling nearly every corner of Africa are not the main emphasis of his trip.

Heralding success, Bush says, helps others realize what it is possible, and the United States is pleased to be involved with the success stories on the continent.
