Ramallah : UN Under Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs John Holmes has said he will report to the UN Security Council (UNSC) the sufferings of the Palestinian people.
Holmes said he understood the suffering of the Palestinian people which resulted from the Israeli killings, settlement policies and the setting up of road blocks restricting the movement of the Palestinians.
Holmes was speaking in a meeting in Ramallah Sunday with Palestinian NGOs and members of the Palestinian parliament.
The Palestinian officials explained to Holmes the humanitarian conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories. They called on the UN to live up to its responsibilities and to exert pressure on the Jewish state to end its hostile actions against the Palestinians.
Holmes visited the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and was acquaited with the living conditions of the Palestinian people.
He also visited the Jewish Sderot settlement and regretted the firing of rockets against it.
