Berlin : German Defense Ministry spokesman Thomas Raabe said here Wednesday that five missiles were fired Tuesday evening at a major German military base located in the northern Afghanistan city of Kunduz.
Two of the missiles actually hit the camp, Raabe confirmed.
Around 3,500 German soldiers are presently based in relatively peaceful northern Afghanistan as well as in and around Kabul within the framework of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission.
At least 26 German soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since January 2002, according to German Defense Minister Franz Josef Jung.
