The police Tuesday arrested a British national caught urinating on the Freedom Monument, which is Latvia’s national symbol, in central Riga.

The man was the fifth British to be arrested for the offence.

“These people think it is a tradition to mar our monument. They are pigs, those British. A piggy nation,” Seglins told reporters angrily.

Over 15 people, including Russians, have been arrested recently for such indecent behaviour at the monument. However, British nationals are the most frequent offenders compared to any other nationals.
