Kigali : US President George W. Bush arrived in Rwanda Tuesday on a third stage of his African tour, where the 1994 slaughter”s survivors slammed the White House for feigning ignorance of that episode.
Bush”s agenda, received by President Paul Kagame, includes visiting a monument dedicated to victims of the genocide committed by mainly Hutu extremists against some 800,000 Tutsi-born Rwandans and from its own ethnic group.
Ten years ago, then US President William Clinton visited Rwanda to apologize for not having carried out any effort to stop that massacre.
Bush arrived in this country from Tanzania, where he inked with President Jakaya Kikwete an accord valued at $698 million to fight malaria in five years.
Bush”s tour also includes Ghana and Liberia.
