Jammu : All India Congress Committee chief and chairperson UPA Sonia Gandhi is likely to visit snow affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
Sources in the party circles revealed that the Sonia, accompanied by Home Minister Shivraj Patil and new PCC chief Saifud-din-Soz, is likely to visit Kashmir Anantnag district and twin districts of Doda, Kishtwar in Jammu region.
“She will visit the access to ascertain the situation arising out of the recent snowfall in the area”, a Congress leader told News Agency of Kashmir.
He said that Sonia is expected to arrive in Jammu from where she will fly though a special chopper to Anantnag, Doda and Kishtwar. However, the exact details o the visit was not known immediately.
More than thirty people have lost their lives due to heavy snowfall and avalanches in the far off areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
While the life is limping back to normalcy in the urban areas, most of the rural areas in Anantnag, Doda and Kishtwar remained cut off.
