Bogota (Colombia) : India’s Sunitha Rao and Betina Jozami of Argentina had to battle hard to get past the Czech-Brazilian pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Fernanda Maria Alves in the doubles first round of the $185,000 Copa Colsanitas Santander tennis tournament here.
Rao and Jozami came back strongly after being whitewashed in the first set to beat Hlavackova and Maria Alves 0-6, 6-4, 10-8 Wednesday.
The unseeded Indo-Argentine pair will face top seeds Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic and American Bethanie Mattek in the next round. Benesova and Mattek beat Klaudia Jans of Poland and Ipek Senoglu of Turkey 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round.
