Kabul : Seven Afghan employees of a local road construction company were killed when their vehicle hit mines Saturday morning in eastern Afghanistan, a police official said.
The blast occurred at around 8:30 a.m. in Sarkanu district of Kunar province, Abdul Jalajalal, the provincial police chief, said.
However, the police chief could not say who might be behind the attack, adding that militants planted the mines some days ago.
Taliban militants have been blamed for a series of similar incidents before.
Conflicts and Taliban-related insurgency left more than 6,000 people dead in 2007, and observers predict more suicide attacks and roadside bombings this year too.
