Political parties in Nepali capital file their candidacy under FPTP system

Kathmandu : Candidates representing Nepal’s major political parties filed their nominations for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system for different constituencies in Kathmandu district on Monday.

Nepali Congress (NC), the largest political party in Nepal’s interim parliament, Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M), Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), Rastriya Prajatantra Party and others arrived at the election office in Kathmandu fixed by the Election Commission (EC) with their leaders to file their nomination till late afternoon Monday.

The electoral candidates of the CPN-UML led by the party’s general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal arrived at the election office to file their nomination.

Similarly, candidates of the CPN-M filing their nominations for the CA polls under the FPTP system led by party chairman Prachanda arrived at the election office late in the afternoon.

Chairman of the CPN-M Prachanda is reportedly contesting the CA polls under FPTP system from electoral constituency-10 for Kathmandu district, the local media house’s website eKantipur reported.
