Young guns ready to fire in the semi-final

Kuala Lumpur : Consistency has been the key feature of the Indian juniors, who have so far dominated their opponents on way to the semi-finals of the Under-19 cricket World Cup here.

Their next big test comes against New Zealand, who beat Sri Lanka by 80 runs in a quarterfinal on Monday.

Indians will certainly look to their in-form batsmen to deliver. Taruwar Kohli and Tanmay Srivastava are the two top scorers in the tournament so far.

Opener Taruwar Kohli, who has three fifties in four games, leads the pack with 207 runs in four matches in the tournament. Tanmay Srivastava with two fifties has 203 runs.

Skipper Virat Kohli, who scored a blazing century against West Indies, is placed sixth with 173 runs but with an awesome strike rate of 107.45. Virat’s 74-ball 100 is also the fastest in the tournament.

All three have got runs at a good average and given their bowlers ample chance to get the opposition out well within the target.

In the wicket-takers list, slow left-arm bowler Iqbal Abdulla occupies sixth position with nine wickets in his kitty at an average of 9.11.
