Kabul : An officer was among the five Afghan policemen killed in a roadside bomb blast in southeastern parts of Afghanistan, officials said on Tuesday.
The incident happened in Sabrio district of the country’s southeastern Khost province this morning, police spokesman in that province Col. Wazir Badshah told journalists.
He said the police party was on routine patrol outside the city in a rural area when the bomb planted on a dirt road, exploded on their vehicle. A senior officer and his four police guards were killed in the powerful blast that also fully destroyed their pick-up truck.
Claiming responsibility for the blast, Taliban spokesman Zabeehullah Mujahid said all the police officials travelling in the vehicle had been killed. He would not give the exact number.
