Embassy confirms two Russians killed in Thai bus crash

Moscow : The Russian Embassy in Thailand confirmed on Wednesday that two Russian nationals had been killed in a road accident in the Southeast Asian country.

The deaths occurred when a bus carrying Russian tourists from Pattaya to Bangkok was involved in a serious road accident. There were 40 tourists on board the bus at the time of the accident.

“Two Russian females were killed in the accident,” embassy press officer Alexei Bulkin said, adding that a third female was in intensive care in hospital.

Bulkin said only nine of the passengers had escaped injury.

An assistance center was set up at the Russian Embassy in Bangkok, with diplomats on round-the-clock duty.

A request for assistance in investigating the circumstances of the crash was submitted to the Thai Foreign Ministry.
