Bandar Seri Begawan : The Sultanate of Oman would grab any opportunities to forge educational ties with Brunei Darussalam mainly in the field of Science and Mathematics in English medium.
This was revealed by Janaito Mohammed Nasser Al Lamki, Advisor for Education Programmes of the Sultanate of Oman in an interview during a visit to Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan.
The delegation was welcomed by the acting principal of the college, Kamlah Daud. Apart from a briefing session, the delegation also takes the opportunity to explore the laboratories and facilities at the college.
Janaito said, “We would like to grab any opportunities of educational ties or twinning programmes. I think a lot of good things are happening here in Brunei Darussalam and also in Malaysia, we will look into it. This will be an agreement between government to government of both countries.
“The teaching of Science and Mathematics in English medium is one of the most important subjects in industrial world. So we are considering introducing such subjects in English medium in Oman. We started our tour in Malaysia then to Brunei Darussalam and finally to Singapore,” she added.
The seven-member delegation from the Sultanate of Oman is currently in Brunei for a five-day educational visit. They will be touring a number of primary and secondary schools in the country to learn more about the national educational system.
In addition, they will also conduct a discussion session with senior officials of the Curriculum Development Department and the Department of Examinations, Ministry of Education on areas of interest and cooperation related to Brunei Darussalam’s educational curriculum and examinations in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
While in the country, the delegation will also be visiting Sultan Haj i Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) UBD, the Science Technology and Environment Centre, Ministry of Education as well as the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre in Seria.
