The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 12 noon and then for the day as MPs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party and the Left raised their voices in protest. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) also joined in.

While the Samajwadi Party was demanding water supply for irrigation to the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh, Shiv Sena and BJP MPs brought up in the two houses the issue of suicides of farmers in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region.

In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the house for the day when he failed to pacify the MPs who gathered near his podium. Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha too.

Chatterjee warned the MPs that he would take action against them Thursday onwards if they gathered near his podium.
