Kolkata : Rizwanur Rahman, the Muslim youth whose mysterious death after marrying a Hindu industrialist’s daughter sparked an outcry, had committed suicide, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Thursday.
The CBI report was read out by the Calcutta High Court in the court of Justice Dipankar Dutta, Rahman family’s counsel Kalyan Bandopadhayay said.
On Jan 8, the CBI submitted its probe report on the death of graphic designer Rizwanur Rahman to the high court.
The report has accused four police officials and industrialist Ashok Todi, Rizwanur’s father-in-law, and some of his family members of abetting the suicide.
The case would be heard again March 12.
Rizwanur’s body with the head smashed was found by a railway track in north Kolkata Sep 21 last year, almost a month after he married Priyanka Todi, daughter of Lux Cozi group chief Ashok Todi.
