Dhaka : At least 25 people drowned when a passenger boat carrying 150 people capsized on the Buriganga river near the Bangladesh capital Thursday afternoon.
Rescuers have recovered 25 bodies from the river so far. Up to 40 passengers were missing, they said.
The police said the boat was sailing from Dhaka Sadarghat Terminal towards Munshiganj, some 30 km southeast of Dhaka at the time of the incident.
The boat capsized after it was hit by a cargo ship near Buriganga First Bridge at about 3 p.m.
