Speaking at a program of the state-run television channel PTV, Haider said when the process of election was completed, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would notify the names of elected members.

He said it was expected that notification of the elected members would be made by March 3. The ECP will then determine the share of parliamentary parties on reserved seats for women and minorities.

There are 342 seats in the assembly including 70 seats reserved for women and minorities.

During the two-day session of the national assembly, the elected members will take oath of their office on the first day and on the second day the election of speaker and deputy speaker will be held, he said.

The stage for the election of the prime minister will be set when the majority parties in the house propose the names of their candidates.

On receipt of the consensus name for the slot of premiership, the law and parliamentary affairs department will send another summary to the president for calling of assembly’s session for the election of the prime minister, he said.

Haider said the newly elected prime minister was bound to take the vote of confidence from the house within 60 days of his assuming the charge on the date of his choice.
