Palestinian shell injures an Israeli in Sderot — spokesman

Gaza : The Israeli Army announced on Thursday that a Sdeort resident was injured by in a Palestinian missile shelling targeting southern Israel.

Israeli Army spokesman told local radio that several missiles were fired from Gaza Strip this morning, landing at University of Sapir located in the town of Sderot, and caused injuries to one of the town’s residents.

Another group of Palestinian missiles were fired targeting western Negev region, he said, but did not say whether or not there were damages.

Eziddin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, earlier claimed responsibility for launching nine missiles at the same settlement.

The brigade said in a statement that one of the fired missiles exploded in the Sdeort as the Israeli Minister of Internal (Public) Security Avraham Dichter was touring the town, and survived the missiles shrapnel unlike his personal guard who was injured.

According to Palestinian medical sources, Hamza Al-Hayia, the son of one of Hamas’ senior leaders, and Jawad Tafish, 23, a Qassam media official, were killed in Israeli air raids on southern Gaza Strip.
