The protests were held in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Gujranwala and several other cities. Hundreds of protesters were holding placards inscribed with demands for immediate action by the Muslim countries against the Danish government and were chanting slogans “God is greatest,” and “We will sacrifice our lives over sanctity of the Prophet.” They also burnt effigies of the Danish President and flags of Denmark as well as the US.

The protesters demanded the government to end diplomatic ties with Denmark and the Muslim world to boycott Danish products. Also, they asked the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to take stern action against the Danish government for hurting sentiments of the Muslim world.

The sacrilegious caricatures, first published in Danish newspapers in 2005, sparked widespread anger and violent protests in several Muslim countries, including Pakistan.
