Caracas : Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema will visit Venezuela on February 29 to tackle energy and political cooperation issues, diplomatic sources reported Thursday.
According to reports from the Caracas Embassy in the European country, the trip also responds to an agreement between Venezuela’s state-owned PDVSA (Petroleos de Venezuela, SA) and Italy’s ENI.
In this way ENI consolidates its participation in this nation and enters as a PDVSA partner in the Orinoco Oil Strip.
Venezuelan Ambassador to Italy Rafael Lacava indicated the visit constitutes an example of the respect the international community has for this South American nation.
With this agreement, Venezuela is implicitly recognized worldwide as an energy power, and permits ENI to continue operating in our territory and extend in the country with the most oil reserves in the world, Lacava added.
