The sources told IANS that the warning was provided to the chiefs of the Uttar Pradesh Police in Lucknow and of the CRPF in New Delhi last month.

The intelligence input followed the bombings in district courts in Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The sources said an attack was feared when the CRPF was recruiting constables in December. The process got over Dec 28. The attack happened three days later.

Hundreds of young hopefuls had gathered at the CRPF Group Centre for the recruitment.

Two terrorists attacked the Rampur camp before dawn Tuesday and shot dead seven CRPF personnel and a civilian. The attackers escaped.
