Customs official killed during shooting of TV drama

Kuala Lumpur : In a tragic case of reel life getting real, a Malaysian customs official was killed during the filming of a special television drama for the department’s anti-smuggling campaign.

Mohamad Noh Zainuddin, 33, was severely injured Thursday when a customs department’s boat collided with one of a ‘smuggler’ during the shooting of a high-speed chase.

He was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, The Star newspaper reported Friday.

Popular actor Kamal Bakar, 46, and local boat operator Gan Maan Wah suffered minor injuries when they were thrown overboard.

Bakar is being treated for shock.

Noh, who was playing the role of a smuggler, was in the ‘smuggler’s boat’ along with Kamal and Gan.

Gan said two customs boats were chasing his boat when a third customs vessel approached from the side and crashed into them.
