Sydney : Rahul Dravid may be struggling right now, but he did manage to get to his 50th fifty in Test cricket with his 53 in the first innings of the second Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground here Thursday.
It was Dravid’s 200th innings in his 117th Test. He now has 24 hundreds and 50 fifties in his 9757 runs.
Dravid’s latest fifty is his ninth against Australia.
Dravid became only the third batsman in Test annals to have recorded 50 fifties, joining Australia’s Allan Border (63) and Steve Waugh (50).
Dravid also put on 175 with Laxman for the second wicket. It is India’s second best 100-plus stand for the second wicket at SCG. India’s best at this venue for the second wicket is 224 between Sunil Gavaskar and Mohinder Amarnath in 1985-86.
