Kozhikode (Kerala) : An Air-India flight carrying the first batch of 219 Haj pilgrims from Kerala arrived at Karipur International Airport here Friday.
“A total of 8,603 pilgrims went for the pilgrimage through the Kerala State Haj Committee. They will be brought back home in 35 flights,” said Haj committee chairman A.K. Abdul Hameed. The last flight bringing back the pilgrims is slated for Jan 19.
The government provides substantial subsidy on travel expenses for those who undertake the annual Haj pilgrimage through the state Haj committees.
