Srinagar : Minister for Social Welfare and Senior Congress Vice President Abdul Gani Vakil has ruled out that any single political party could solve the Kashmir issue adding that all parties including Hurriyat should come forward on the Round Table to express their views for the lasting solution of Kashmir imbroglio.

Addressing a civic reception given by Congress workers at Congress headquarter at Srinagar today, Mr.Vakil hoped that the collective efforts would pave way for lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir . He said that Congress has always kept its doors open for negotiation on any issue and has never misled the people on one pretext or the other.

The Minister called upon the people to be vigilant against those who are out to carrying the bogey of emotional sloganeering. He said under the leadership of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad the custodial killings have come to zero level and those found guilty in this connection have been punished under law and some are languishing in the jails. Referring to some important decisions of Chief Minister, Mr. Vakil said that 8 new districts and substantial number of sub-districts and tehsils besides Roshni Act and legislation against corruption are some of the landmark achievements of Azad led Government. The Minister appealed the people to strengthen the Congress party which has always stood like a rock against the communal forces adding that people should not be swayed by the political gimmicks of vested interests who are always in a chance to exploit the sentiments of the people to take political capital out of these.

He said 17,000 new posts would be created in Social Welfare department in near future. He said the administration would be made more accountable and responsive to the urges and aspirations of people.

Vakil appreciated the Information department for publishing the book containing the development projects undertaken during the Azad led government in the state. He said that the figures in the book itself speak a lot about the achievements of the present government.

Addressing the gathering, Minister for Rural Development Mr. Mula Ram said he would leave no stone unturned to make Jammu and Kashmir prosperous. He said under education sector 40 new degree colleges were opened during past five years which is itself a great achievement. He said Kashmir is paradise on the earth adding that all of us should strengthen the hands of Chief Minister to make the J&K a model state for which Chief Minister has launched comprehensive projects across the state.

Minister for Youth Services and Sports Haji Nissar Ali said that due attention would be paid to promote sports activities in the state. He called upon people to remain united to fight communal and other forces bent to disrupt peace and tranquility of the state.
