Pakistan PM and Iranian FM discuss IPI Gas Pipeline Project

Islamabad : Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki met caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro, said an official statement.

The premier emphasized the need for developing an integrated approach to meet much-needed regional energy requirements.

He said the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project was very important for Pakistan and would help meet its energy needs.

Soomro said Pakistan and Iran enjoy close neighbourly relations and are playing a significant role in the region for peace and stability.

He said terrorism is a threat to the region as well as the world and “we need to work together to combat it.”

“Both the countries desire to expand trade and economic links in order to ensure prosperity for their people,” he added.
