Ramallah : Israeli forces took away 11 Palestinians accused of being members of Islamic Hamas movement from the West Bank city of Nablus early on Monday, Palestinian security sources said.
The detentions came shortly after the Israeli forces withdrew from the city following a three-day military operation.
Two hours after midnight, more than 20 tanks and armored vehicles pushed into the city from the east and the west respectively.
The invading Israeli forces surrounded some neighborhoods and arrested seven youths, including a 29-year-old woman.
In southeast Nablus, other troops stormed Ousrin village and detained four residents there, the security sources said.
Israeli raids in the West Bank went on without being affected by the bids to revive peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).
Meanwhile, in the volatile Gaza Strip, militants claimed responsibility for shelling Western Negev with 14 makeshift rockets.
The military wing of the so-called Popular Resistance Committees(PRC) said the rockets targeted an Israeli army site east of the Gaza Strip.
“This bombardment was in response to the Israeli escalation in Gaza Strip and West Bank,” the group said in a statement faxed to the reporters.
