Chandigarh : The 11-year-old daughter of a deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who went missing from her residence in Sector 30 here was found Wednesday in Rajasthan’s Jaipur city.

Police officials said that the girl, Sakshi Soni, was found from the home of her relatives in Jaipur after remaining untraceable for nearly 12 hours. Police sources said that the girl took a bus from here to Jaipur Tuesday night and got down at Jaipur Wednesday morning.

Sakshi’s family reported her as “missing” after she went for tuition classes and did not return home Tuesday evening.

Security agencies in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana had been put on alert and police teams had been formed early Wednesday to trace her.

Sakshi is the daughter of CBI DIG B.L. Soni. He spoke to his relatives in Jaipur on telephone to confirm that his daughter was fine. The efforts to trace her were immediately called off, much to the relief of security officials here.

The family was suspecting that the girl might have been kidnapped.

The CBI office here, which caters to the northern states of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and the union territory of Chandigarh, has been dealing with several high-profile and sensitive cases from the region, including the murder and rape case against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh.
