Himachal ministers to take oath Wednesday

Shimla : The swearing-in of the new ministers of Himachal Pradesh will take place at a ceremony here Wednesday, officials said.

Eleven cabinet ministers are expected to be sworn in by Governor V.S. Kokje.

Prem Kumar Dhumal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took oath as chief minister Dec 30.

Party sources indicated that Kangra, the most populous district of the state, was expected to get the maximum representation in the cabinet. At least one woman and a Dalit leader are expected to make it to the cabinet.

Dhumal and senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar held the last round of meeting late Monday with senior party leaders in New Delhi to finalise the list of ministers.

The BJP swept the polls in the state last month, winning 41 of the 68 seats of the state assembly. The Congress won 23 and others got four seats.
