Mumbai : A three-day global trade and investment conference – India Your Partner – will be held in Mumbai beginning Friday.
Niraj Bajaj, President of Indian Merchant Chambers (IMC), which is organising the event, said the highlight of the conference would be the participation of diplomats and business leaders from over 20 countries.
The chamber expects more than 200 foreign business delegates representing various industries and about 300 Indian business leaders, policymakers, and senior corporate executives to participate in this interactive conference.
“With participation from various diplomats, we will have an insight into their views and explore prospects of trade and investment in India, and forging partnerships with Indian businessmen,” said Bajaj.
Sam Pitroda, chairman, Knowledge Commission, and Vayalar Ravi, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, will speak at the conference.
The other dignitaries at the conference will include Deepak Parekh, Chairman, HDFC, and Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
The conference will be a part of the IMC’s centenary celebrations.
“IMC has invited delegations of businessmen from 100 global partner chambers from 50 countries, with which it has signed memorandums of understanding for cooperation. In addition, a large number of overseas Indian leaders from Singapore, Dubai, London and South Africa will also be coming,” Bajaj told IANS.
Representatives from Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Iraq, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Tanzania, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Britain and the US have confirmed their participation, he said.
The conference has been specially designed to facilitate interaction between foreign and India business leaders and policymakers.
