Moscow : Irkut Vice-President Anatoly Belov with the experience of selling Russian military planes to India has been appointed as the general director of the aircraft corporation MiG, a leading business daily said on Wednesday.
Belov, who succeeded in selling Su-30 MKI Flanker multi-purpose fighters to India, has been appointed as the MiG head on the eve of a major Indian tender for 126 fighters worth $9 billion, Vedomosti said.
The appointment, which was confirmed by MiG, shows the importance of the Indian market for the Russian aircraft industry, Vedomosti quoted MiG spokeswoman Elena Fyodorova as saying.
