Banned outfits held responsible for suicide attacks in Pakistan

Islamabad : The Pakistani Interior Ministry Spokesman Brig ® Javed Iqbal Cheema Friday said that banned outfits and extremist elements are behind terrorist and suicide attacks in the country.

Expressing deep sorrow over killing of 22 persons and police officials in a suicide attack in Lahore, he said, “extremist groups, lose groups, tribal miscreants, banned Jehadi groups and anti-state elements may be involved in these attacks in the country.”

He said these anti-state elements and terrorists targeted the security forces in Lahore while public also suffered in this attack.

Cheema strongly condemned the attacks and back up behind it, saying, “we will give a strict and harsh punishment to these miscreants and anti-state elements who were behind these attacks. It will be a lesson for them.”

He said that approximately 67 terrorist and suicide attacks took place in 2007 inlcuding the one held in Lahore on Thursday causing huge loss of human lives.

He said security arrangments for Muharram activities have been finalised and security agencies would remain on high alert acorss the country.

Provincial and district governments have chalked out comprehensive security plans to avoid the any subversive activity during the scard month.
