India hopeful of wrapping up IAEA pact this month

Kuala Lumpur : An ethnic Indian leader of Malaysia’s southern state of Johor was shot dead near his office Friday, local media reported.

S. Krishnasamy, an assembly member representing the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), was killed at around 2.30 p.m. local time by a gunman at the state party headquarters, according to the website of The Star newspaper.

The shooting took place when Krishnasamy, MIC’s deputy state chief, was going to attend a meeting.

The police have cordoned off the area around the MIC building and a forensic team has been sent to the crime scene, the newspaper said.
