Berlin : United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has come out against the idea of withdrawing the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) from Afghanistan. In an article the Berlin-based daily Der Tagesspiegel published on Friday he criticized demands by some Western countries for ending the military operation in Hindu Kush as a “wrong evaluation of historical conditions. ”
The UN secretary-general believes that the international contingent’s pullout from Afghanistan would be “a mistake” that might entail ” terrible consequences.”
“We have no right to yield to inhuman violence by the rebels and to lose that country,” Ban Ki-Moon said.
