Kozhikode (Kerala) : Mohun Bagan defeated local challengers Viva Kerala 2-0 in their I-League match here Sunday.
Led by influential star striker Baichung Bhutia, Bagan maintained an upper hand through out the game and scored one goal each in both the half.
Baichung opened Bagan’s account in the 35th minute from a Jose Ramirez Barretto Ramirez pass.
However, the home team’s continuous raid earned them three consecutive corners in quick succession towards the end of the first half, but the Kolkata club easily blunted their defence breaching efforts.
The visitors doubled their lead just two minutes before the final whistle through Isfaq Ahmed who scored netted the ball from a well-directed header from Bhutia.
