Inspector who took bribe jailed for three years

Bhopal : An inspector posted with the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has been sentenced to three years in jail and fined Rs.5,000 for taking a bribe from a colleague to close an investigation into a human right violation case.`

A special court in Sehore sentenced Jitendra Tomar Singh after the state’s special public prosecutor, the Lokayukta, had registered a case against the inspector for accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from Satish Agnihotri, a police official at Sehore district headquarters.

Tomar was caught red-handed accepting the sum from Agnihotri for closing his case file. He had been investigating a case of human rights violation registered by MPHRC against Agnihotri.
