Gen. Kapoor admits army’s image suffered due to scams

NEW DELHI, Jan 15 (APP) – Indian Army Chief Gen. Deepak Kapoor has admitted that with cases of scams involving certain army personnel had brought down the image of the force.
“There have been some instances which have brought down the image of the army in the eyes of the public,” the army chief said here while talking to reporters on the occasion of Army Day.

He did not elaborate but he was apparently referring to a number of cases of alleged scams involving some army personnel.

The cases, which came to light recently, include alleged pilferage of items procured by the army, including tents and eggs.

Army has ordered court of inquiry into 23 cases of alleged scams. “We are concerned….We will try to maintain the image of the army, “ Gen Kapoor added.
