The police said a Dhaka-bound state-owned bus collided with another bus coming from the opposite direction while overtaking a motorised rickshaw at about 10:40 a.m., killing 25 passengers of both the buses on the spot and injuring 60.
Police sergeant Arman confirmed the casualty figure and said injured passengers were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Mitford Hospital.
Hospital sources said the toll could go up as some of the injured were in critical condition.
