“Countries which intended to impose sanctions against Iran and put the country under pressure have achieved no success yet,” Jalili told IRNA upon his arrival in Beijing.

“International developments and Iran’s rational attitude will not let any country to use various means including sanctions or pressures,” he added.

Taking into account Tehran-Beijing ties, he was asked about Iran’s expectations from China on the nuclear issue, to which the SNSC secretary replied: “Iran and China are two important countries in regional and international scenes.

“The two sides have very good ties in political and economic fields and regional and international cooperation. The visit takes place to hold consultations and exchange views,” he said.

Jalili stated that Iran and China enjoy “amicable” ties and “broad” cooperation and stressed the importance of expanding relations in all fields with a “constructive” view.

He noted that he would hold talks with senior Chines officials about a meeting of 5 1 Group (the five permanent members of UN Security Council — China, Russia, France, Britain and the US — plus Germany) which is to be held in Berlin next week.

He said that certain countries have pursued the issue of sending Iran’s nuclear dossier to the Security Council under false pretexts and added that they released reports proving they have made unfounded allegations.

The top Iranian nuclear negotiator expressed hope that such reports would change their behaviour.
