More than 100 illegal immigrants detained by Greek coast guard

Athens : More than 100 illegal immigrants were detained by Greek coast guard officials after they were found abandoned on the rocky island of Farmakoniki in the eastern Aegean by human traffickers in the early hours Thursday, DPA quoted reports as saying.

The 111 illegal immigrants, of unknown nationalities, were discovered without food or water on the islet, which lies between Patmos and Leros.

It was not immediately clear how they were transported to the islet and under what conditions.
