Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa, Arjun Atwal and Gaurav Ghei are some of the top Indian golfers who will lead the home challenge in this tournament, which carries a prize purse of $2.5 million.

The tournament, which is tri-sanctioned by the European Tour, Asian Tour and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and promoted by ‘golf in Dubai’, promises to bring some of the top golfers of the world to India and give a major boost to the sport in the country.

South African and former world No.1 Ernie Els, Scottish Colin Montogomerie and Thomas Bjorn are some of the top golfers who are expected to set the par-72 DGC course on fire.

The tournament in association with ‘golf in Dubai’ and Sheikh Maktoum Golf Foundation will organise a golf clinic by world No.4 Els on Feb 8. Visitors under 18 will be allowed free entry with a paid adult to attend the tournament everyday.

“We want to see the tournament into the fabric and tradition of Indian golf. That can only take place with a strong foundation of partners and focussing on youth development,” said Mohammed Juma Buamaim, chief executive of ‘golf in Dubai’.
