By IRNA

Dubai : United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said on Thursday that his country gives priority to relations with Iran and nothing can tarnish the friendly ties.

Sheikh Abdullah made the remark in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to UAE Hamid-Reza Asefi.

He said that Iran and UAE enjoy historical, cultural and religious common grounds.

He added that the two countries have entered a new stage in the aftermath of a visit to UAE by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and that the current level of relations is excellent.

The UAE foreign minister further underlined that his country’s officials are seriously determined to expand all-out ties.

For his part, Asefi explained Iranian government’s policy to expand cooperation with the Arab states of the Persian Gulf including the UAE.

He further noted that Ahmadinejad’s visits to the neighboring states indicated Iran’s determination to foster regional cooperation.

Regional cooperation will guarantee security and stability in the region, the ambassador said, adding that regional states should be aware of hostile attempts with the aim of tarnishing friendly and brotherly ties.
