Two arrested over Bhutto assassination plot

Beijing : Pakistani authority arrested two people who were believed to have involved in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, media reported Sunday.

A 15-year-old and his militant “handler” were arrested in the northwestern town of Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday night.

The boy, identified as Aitezaz Shah, had confessed that he was trained as a suicide bomber to kill Bhutto if other militants had failed to kill her Dec. 27.

Interior Secretary Kamal Shah confirmed the arrest of the two persons.

He said interrogators were trying to get corroborating testimony from the other detainee before accepting the confession.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto died after being seriously injured in a bomb attack near the capital city of Islamabad on Dec.27.
