Musharraf leaves on Europe tour

Islamabad : Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf said Sunday his four-nation European visit is aimed at improving Pakistan’s image and removing what he called wrong perception about happenings in the country and the region.

Musharraf was talking to newspersons at the Chaklala airbase before his departure on an eight-day visit to Belgium, France, Switzerland and Britain.

The president said he would seek to present in correct perspective the developments in Pakistan and in the region during his meetings with the leaders of these countries as also in his address to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) meet in Switzerland’s Davos.

Musharraf said that he would also have discussions with Belgian Prime Minister Guy Vehhofstadt, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy on how to consolidate further bilateral cooperations with these countries.
