Bangalore : Cultural shows by school children, skits depicting the Indian independence struggle and an impressive parade by military and police units marked the Republic Day celebrations in Karnataka.
The main function in the state was at the Field Marshal Sam Maneckshaw parade ground here. Governor Rameshwar Thakur hoisted the national flag and took the salute.
In the districts, deputy commissioners hoisted the flag in the absence of an elected government in the state.
