NEW DELHI, Jan 28 (APP): In view of intensified attacks on Indian workers in Afghanistan, the Indian government has stepped up security cover for them.
In view of this grave situation, a team of Ministry of External Affairs visited Afghanistan and reviewed security arrangements at construction sites and consulates. The team also visited Indian consulate in Jalalabad which was attacked with hand grenades several times in the past, The Indian Express reported.
On January 4, the Indian workers engaged in construction activities came under attack leaving two Indian commandos and 12 Afghan security personnel killed.
The team also requested the Afghan authorities to provide additional security to the Indian nationals.
Indian commandos numbering 380 are already in Afghanistan to provide security to the Indians.
